Kribi Community Open Days: PAK Reaches Out to the Youth
Raising Awareness, Building Skills, and Inspiring Future Port Professionals
On October 31 and November 1, 2024, the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK) organized the first edition of the Kribi Community Open Days, an event aimed at introducing young people to the career opportunities available in the port and maritime sector.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Mr. Patrice MELOM, Director General of PAK, in the presence of the Second Deputy Mayor of Kribi. In his address, Mr. MELOM encouraged young people to pursue careers in the port industry, emphasizing the importance of passion and choosing the right training path in this fast-growing sector.
Over the course of two days, a large and enthusiastic audience—including students, pupils, researchers, and career counselors—took part in various activities. Local port operators such as ACC, KMT, KCT, AGL, Smit Lamnalco, and PAK hosted presentations and workshops to help young attendees better understand the skills in demand and to highlight relevant technical training and specializations.
Interactive quizzes were also held, with prizes awarded by the participating companies, creating a friendly and engaging learning environment.
The event concluded with a guided tour of the port facilities and the Mboro site, giving visitors a hands-on look at Kribi’s port operations and infrastructure.
Through this initiative, the Port Authority of Kribi reaffirmed its role as a driver of opportunity and education for Cameroonian youth, who left the event inspired, informed, and motivated for the future.
