Missions of the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK)

Driving Port Performance

As a key stakeholder in the port sector, the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK) is responsible for the management, development, promotion and marketing of the Kribi port public domain. In this capacity, it is tasked with a set of missions within the limits of its port jurisdiction.

The main missions of the Port Authority of Kribi are defined by Decree No. 2020/252 of 5 May 2020,to approve the Articles of Association of the Kribi Port Authority. They are as follows :

1. Management of the port public domain
  • General coordination of port activities;

  • Ensuring overall coordination of public services and bodies contributing to or benefiting from port activities ;

  • Managing, maintaining, servicing, and renewing port infrastructure and equipment allotted to it ;

  • Coordinating industrial and commercial activities related to port operations; in particular warehousing, stevedoring, vessel-to-vessel transshipment, cargo handling, towage, mooring, consignment, storage, terminal management, pilotage, transit and bunkering of ships ;

  • Ensuring the safety and policing of operations in the port and its appurtenances ;

  • Ensuring that the services rendered are commensurate with the rates paid therefor ;

2. Development and planning of the port public domain
  • Planning port development in conjunction with the relevant bodies ;

  • Setting up and developing port logistics zones ;
  • Developping and expanding the Port of Kribi and its appartenances ;
  • Constructing and equipping port infrastructure;
  • Supervising works entrusted to specialized entreprises, including dredging;
  • Conducting technical and environmental studies;
  • Protecting the port environment;
  • Managing and treating waste;
  • Managing, maintaining, renewing, and rehabilitating buildings placed under its responsibility.
3. Promotion and marketing of the port public domain
  • Managing the port community through PAK’s Policy Advisory ;
  • Promoting the Port of Kribi’s brand image through marketing campaigns and participation in national and international forums or events;
  • Supporting sports, community-based and cultural activities;
  • Supporting sustainable local, social, and cultural development activities of the local communities;
  • Negotiating and establishing partnerships with other ports or entities contributing to the achievement of PAK’s mission;
  • Participating in national and/or foreign companies.
