Training on Implementing a Quality Approach and ISO 9001:2015 Certification for Port Activities
Casablanca & Tangier, Morocco — July 8 to 16, 2022
As part of its commitment to operational excellence and international certification, the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK) continues to strengthen staff capacity through high-level professional training. From July 8 to 16, 2022, a multidisciplinary delegation from PAK took part in a training session in Casablanca and Tangier, Morocco, focused on the implementation of a Quality Management System and ISO 9001:2015 certification, followed by a benchmark visit to the Port of Tangier Med, one of the world’s leading ports in quality and performance management.
A multidisciplinary team from the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK) participated in a professional training course organized by CIC-RELAIS CONSULT GROUP, an ISO 9001-certified consulting firm, on the theme:
“Implementing a Quality Approach and International ISO 9001 Certification for Port Activities”, complemented by a benchmark at the Port of Tangier Med.
The training, facilitated by Mr. Karim Labbene, an expert in port management and quality systems, took place in Casablanca from July 8 to 14, 2022, and consisted of two key modules:
-
Module 1: Implementing a Quality Approach in the Port Sector – raising awareness on strategic quality issues, methodology for continuous improvement, leadership, and quality governance.
-
Module 2: ISO 9001:2015 Standard – understanding key requirements, process-based management, customer satisfaction, and performance improvement.
Participants gained practical skills to plan, document, and implement a Quality Management System (QMS) aligned with international standards. The training emphasized the importance of leadership commitment, particularly from top management, as a driving force for successful certification and a quality-driven organizational culture.
On July 15, 2022, the delegation conducted a benchmark visit to Tangier Med Port, ranked among the world’s best-managed ports. Despite a partial rescheduling due to logistical constraints, the exchange provided valuable insights and strengthened cooperation for future technical engagements.
This initiative marks a major milestone in PAK’s journey toward ISO 9001:2015 certification, reaffirming its dedication to quality, performance, and continuous improvement in line with international best practices.
