National School Guidance Day (JNOS) – 17th Edition
Kribi Port Engages with Students
On the occasion of the 17th edition of National School Guidance Day (JNOS), the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK) met with students to introduce them to various port-related careers and provide guidance on professional training opportunities.
The theme for this year was:
“Promoting Social Values in Schools: The Role of Guidance Counseling.”
Guidance Counseling, which has evolved from purely academic and professional orientation, is defined by UNESCO as:
“A continuous educational practice aimed at helping each individual choose the training best suited to their skills, interests, and preferences, adapt to it, and address potential challenges.”
Traditionally celebrated the day after World Teachers’ Day, JNOS was established by Decree No. 3545/B1/1464/MINEDUC of June 27, 2003. Its purpose is to establish guidance counseling as the third pillar of Cameroon’s education system, alongside Pedagogy and Administration, and to ensure greater visibility of guidance services for secondary school youth.
