A next-generation modular refinery to process local crude and boost the national economy

Kribi, July 17, 2025 – The Société Nationale des Hydrocarbures (SNH), in partnership with Tradex and the Ariana-RCG consortium, officially launched the construction of the CSTAR Refinery Project, a modular refinery located in the Kribi Industrial Port Zone (ZIPK).

Built on a 250-hectare site, the facility will deploy modular technology to process up to 30,000 barrels of crude oil per day, mainly sourced from the Ebome oil field.

Construction is expected to last 18 months, with commissioning scheduled for June 2028.

The project is managed by an Emirati SPV, 65% owned by SNH and 35% by Ariana Energies, with local operations coordinated by a Joint Operating Company based in Cameroon.

A project with strong ambitions:
  • Reduce national energy dependence

  • Stimulate the economy through job creation

  • Strengthen local expertise and workforce

  • Contribute $1 billion to Cameroon’s balance of payments

This strategic initiative, born from a partnership between SNH, Tradex and the Ariana/RCG consortium, positions the ZIPK as both an industrial powerhouse for Cameroon and a regional hub of economic attractiveness.
