Partnership signed with IITA to establish agricultural centres of excellence

On February 25, 2022, in Yaoundé, the Kribi Autonomous Port (PAK) reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable development by entering into a partnership with the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA).

This agreement sets the stage for the creation of agricultural centres of excellence in the Ocean Division, home to the deep sea port of Kribi.

The initiative seeks to ensure food self-sufficiency in a region witnessing rapid demographic growth, spurred by the rise of port and industrial activities. It is a meaningful step toward supporting local communities while aligning with national and global sustainable development goals.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MINADER), as the government’s implementing body for agricultural affairs, is a key stakeholder in this IITA/PAK specific agreement, ensuring institutional support and alignment.
