Port Authority of Kribi: A Gateway of Excellence Serving E-Commerce and Trade Facilitation
PAK takes part in the 7th International Single Window Conference in Yaoundé
Delivering a gateway of excellence and implementing competitive logistics solutions to facilitate the movement of goods and vessels to the vast hinterland of the CEMAC zone is the mission of the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK). This ambition is demonstrated daily through the fluidity, simplicity, and speed of its procedures.
In this spirit, PAK participated in the 7th International Single Window Conference, held in Yaoundé from September 17 to 19, 2019, organized by the African Alliance for Electronic Commerce (AACE) in partnership with GUCE Cameroon, under the theme:
“Unlocking the Potential of E-Commerce and Optimizing the International Logistics Chain of Landlocked Countries.”
A strategic participation
Since its creation, the Port of Kribi has been committed to digitizing and dematerializing procedures, consolidating its position as a reference hub along the Atlantic coast of the Gulf of Guinea.
The conference brought together more than 300 participants, including about 100 international delegates from 20 countries. Key organizations represented included:

the World Customs Organization (WCO),

the United Nations Economic Commissions for Africa and Latin America,

the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU/UEMOA),
-
the African Development Bank (AfDB),
-
the UN/CEFACT,
-
and the Port Management Association of West and Central Africa (PMAWCA/OMAOC).
Key recommendations for the future
The conference concluded with a set of strategic recommendations, including:

Implementing and interconnecting national Single Windows through a regional platform to improve intra-African trade flows.

Developing interoperable IT systems and mutual recognition mechanisms for Authorized Economic Operators (AEOs).

Strengthening electronic cargo tracking systems across the CEMAC zone through closer cooperation among freight management agencies.

Standardizing regional electronic seals to avoid delays at border crossings.

Modernizing transport infrastructure (ports, airports, roads, railways) as well as digital infrastructures (ICT and services).

Accelerating the adoption of the Single Foreign Trade Form for landlocked CEMAC countries.

Promoting performance-based contracts in public administrations to reduce document processing times.

Developing local technical and technological expertise to master information systems and foster the growth of Africa’s digital economy.
